4K Video Download Points Planning: When to Use 720p, 1080p, 2K, or 4K

Plan download-point usage by quality, choose a practical resolution, verify the public source stream, and avoid spending 4K points when 1080p is enough.

Do not choose 4K by default. Use the lowest resolution that still meets the real deliverable. In SnapVee, point cost depends on both resolution and length. The base cost below applies to videos up to 30 minutes; longer videos apply duration multipliers (×2.5 for 30–60 minutes and ×6 for 1–2 hours, capped at 2 hours).

Download qualityBase points (≤30 min)Practical use
Audio or up to 480p1 pointPodcasts, lectures, quick reference, low-storage devices
720p3 pointsQuick reference video, mobile playback, lightweight clips
1080p6 pointsInterviews, courses, presentations, screen recordings
2K14 pointsHigher-detail courses, demos, and review footage
4K30 pointsDetail-heavy product demos, travel footage, games, and visual archives

Check the Pricing page for current plan allowances and add-on availability.

A downloader cannot create source quality

Before selecting 4K, open the original public page and confirm that the source actually provides a 4K stream. If the source only provides 1080p, downloading a larger file cannot create real 4K detail.

For recently uploaded videos, higher-quality streams may still be processing on the source platform. Recheck the original page before retrying.

Estimate a batch before starting

Use this formula:

total download points = number of files x base points per quality x duration multiplier

The examples below assume short videos up to 30 minutes, so the duration multiplier is 1:

BatchCalculationTotal
10 lecture videos at 720p10 x 330 points
10 course videos at 1080p10 x 660 points
10 detail-heavy videos at 4K10 x 30300 points
5 audio files and 5 videos at 1080p(5 x 1) + (5 x 6)35 points

For longer videos, multiply the base cost by ×2.5 (30–60 minutes) or ×6 (1–2 hours). For example, a single 4K download is 30 points up to 30 minutes, 75 points at 1 hour, and 180 points at 2 hours.

The Pro plan currently includes 200 monthly download points. Monthly allowances refresh each subscription cycle and do not roll over. Purchased add-on capacity stays available for later use.

Recommended quality by goal

  • Need speech or study material: start with audio, 720p, or Video Summary.
  • Need standard editing or presentation playback: start with 1080p.
  • Need detailed visual inspection or a high-resolution archive: use 4K only when the source provides it.
  • Need captions rather than a large media file: use Subtitle Transcription.

Quick answer

A short 4K download uses 30 points, which is thirty times the cost of audio or a clip up to 480p, and it climbs to 180 points for a 2-hour 4K video. With the Pro plan's 200 monthly download points, that is roughly 33 short 1080p videos (6 points each), about 66 short 720p videos (3 points each), around 6 short 4K videos (30 points each), or a single 2-hour 4K video. Confirm source quality and the actual deliverable before spending 4K points across a batch.
